There is a moment at every good party when the kids stop wandering around and start running. An obstacle course gets you there faster than anything else we deliver.
Bedford obstacle course rentals are our busiest category from spring through fall, and it is easy to see why. A bounce house is fun. An obstacle course is a race — two kids side by side, crawling, climbing, scrambling over a wall, and sliding out the far end to run straight back to the start. Nobody stands around waiting for a turn.
But “obstacle course” covers a lot of ground. We rent units from 30 feet to 95 feet. Some fit in a normal backyard. Some need a school field. Picking the wrong size is the difference between a party everyone talks about and a unit that will not fit through your gate.
Here is what we carry, what fits where, and how to plan around it — everything we deliver across Bedford and Bedford County.
Why picking the right rental matters
Three things go wrong when the rental does not match the event:
- Space. A 95-foot course needs about 100 feet of clear, flat ground. Most Bedford backyards do not have that.
- Ages. A course built for ten-year-olds is too much for a four-year-old and not enough for a group of teenagers.
- Numbers. One small course at a 300-person church festival means a line all afternoon.
Get those three right and the rest takes care of itself. Get one wrong and you will know within twenty minutes of setup.
Types of Obstacle Courses We Rent
Inflatable obstacle course rental
An inflatable obstacle course rental is the setup most people picture: an inflated track with tunnels to crawl through, pop-ups to dodge, a wall to climb, and a slide at the end.
Sizes and what they cost
Our courses run from 30 feet to 95 feet, and length changes the experience more than anything else:

Racing courses have two lanes side by side so two people can go head to head. That is the one to pick if you want cheering.
If space is tight, our rock-climb-and-double-slide unit starts at $200 and gives you the climbing and sliding without the full course footprint.
Ages and skill levels
A rough guide:
- Ages 3 to 5: a short course, or a bounce house instead. A long course is a lot for little ones.
- Ages 6 to 12: the sweet spot. Any length works, and racing courses are the favorite.
- Teens and adults: go long. Sixty feet and up. Adults use these more than people expect, especially at company field days.

Backyard obstacle course options
A backyard obstacle course is our most requested Bedford rental, and it fits more yards than people assume.
Space and setup
Measure before you book. You need:
- Clear, flat ground the length of the course, plus about five feet on each side and at each end
- Overhead clear of branches and power lines
- A gate or path wide enough for the rolled unit — this is the one that catches people out
- Grass, or a flat hard surface like concrete or asphalt. Slopes and uneven ground will not work.
- A dedicated 115V, 20-amp outlet within 50 to 75 feet of the setup spot. Each unit needs its own — two blowers on one circuit will trip a breaker mid-party.
A 30-foot course needs roughly 35 by 15 feet of usable space. If your yard is smaller than that, a combo unit with a slide gives you similar energy in a smaller footprint.
Making it yours
You can build the whole afternoon around the course:
- Add inflatable games for rent — carnival games and interactive units, from $49 — so there is something to do while kids wait their turn
- Add concessions. Snow cones, popcorn, and cotton candy start at $65.
- Add an attendant from $60 to run the course so you can enjoy your own party
- Pair a dry course with a water slide in July and August
Why Obstacle Courses Work So Well
They get everyone moving
A bounce house holds a handful of kids at a time. An obstacle course keeps a line moving run it, finish, get back in line. At a birthday party that means two hours of running instead of twenty minutes. At a field day it means a whole grade cycling through.
Adults join in too, which is the part people do not expect. Some of the best photos we see from Bedford events are parents racing each other while the kids shout at them.
They fit almost any occasion
Corporate event rentals
Company picnics, family days, employee appreciation cookouts. Corporate event rentals are a growing part of what we bring to Bedford, and obstacle courses work well because they get people who barely know each other competing and laughing inside of a minute.
For company events we can also bring a mechanical bull, rock climbing wall, or dunk tank, plus an event manager from $125 to run the setup so nobody on your team has to spend the day working it.
School event rentals
Field days, fun runs, PTO fundraisers, end-of-year celebrations. School event rentals need to move a lot of kids quickly, so we usually suggest a 60-foot racing course, or two shorter courses running side by side.
We can add tents, tables and chairs for shade and check-in, and we provide a certificate of insurance naming your school as additional insured which most schools need before they will approve a setup. Ask for it when you book so we have time to get it sorted.
Family fun rentals
Reunions, block parties, church picnics, graduation parties. Family fun rentals are most of what we do, and an obstacle course covers a wider age range than anything else we carry. That matters at a reunion where you have five-year-olds and fifteen-year-olds in the same field.
Planning Your Bedford Event
Event planning services in Bedford
You do not need full event planning services to pull off a great party, but a few decisions made early make everything after them easy.
Start with three questions:
- How many people, and what ages?
- Where — backyard, park, school, church lot?
- Indoors or out, and what is your plan if it rains?
Answer those and picking equipment takes about five minutes.
If you are using a public space, book it first. Bedford County Parks and Recreation rents picnic shelters at Falling Creek Park — the large one seats 108 — plus shelters at Montvale Park and Moneta Park, and rec centers at Forest, Bellevue, and Huddleston. Their number is 540-586-7682. While you have them on the phone, ask about inflatables and generator use. Most park shelters have no outlet we can reach, so we bring a generator from $95. Just tell us when you book so it goes on the truck.
Tips for keeping the day running
- Put the course where you can see it. Line of sight from wherever the adults will end up standing.
- Feed people before or after, not during. Food and an open course at the same time means half the plates get abandoned.
- Give the course a start time at a school or church event. Otherwise the early arrivals get an hour on it and the last ones get ten minutes.
- Assign one adult per unit if you are not booking an attendant.
Timeline
- Six to eight weeks out: book the date. A 30 percent payment holds it. Spring and fall Saturdays in Bedford go first, and Centerfest weekend in September is our busiest of the year.
- Three to four weeks out: confirm your numbers and request a certificate of insurance if you need one.
- One week out: confirm the setup spot, mow it, and measure the gate.
- The day before: clear the area — pet waste, sticks, rocks, sprinkler heads.
- Event day: we deliver one to three hours ahead, set up, walk you through the rules, and come back after your window ends.
Safety and the rules that matter
Every unit is cleaned and checked before it goes on the truck and inspected again at setup. When we arrive we walk you through the rules worth knowing:
- One rider per lane at a time on racing courses
- No shoes, no glasses, nothing in pockets
- Keep the little kids and the big kids in separate groups
- Somebody 18 or older watching the whole time
- Shut it down and get everyone out if the wind picks up or a storm rolls in
That last one matters here. Summer storms come over the Peaks of Otter in a hurry. If the weather turns, call us — we would much rather come collect the unit early than leave it out in a squall.
Weather does not qualify for a refund, but with proper notice we can usually reschedule you. You can read the full rental policies — deposits, rescheduling, supervision, and what is not allowed in the units — before you book.
Wrapping Up
An obstacle course is the easiest way to make a Bedford event feel like an event. It works for ages four to forty, it keeps a crowd moving, and it asks nothing of you but a flat patch of ground and an outlet.
